Driving thousands of qubits from racks at room temperature multiplies cables and noise; the remedy is to bring the control electronics down into the cryostat. Intel/QuTech and controller vendors are converging on cryogenic CMOS, but heat dissipation in the cold remains a bottleneck: every milliwatt injected at 4 K is costly to evacuate.
