Spin qubits, and the most coherent transmon substrates, require a near mono-isotopic silicon (²⁸Si) stripped of the nuclear spin of ²⁹Si. Silex, via its SILEX laser process, is one of the few players aiming for commercial production, backed by a single initial customer and Australian defence funding. A nascent chain, volumes of a few dozen kilos, no established industrial redundancy.
