By taking up the gas crown abandoned by Gazprom, Norway has become the Union's leading supplier, about 30% of its consumption. The substitution of one dependence for another is real: Europe swapped a hostile supplier for a friendly one, but a single one, linked by an 8,800 km subsea network exposed to sabotage. The concentration has not disappeared, it has changed hands.
